"NO TOOL OF RUSSIA," HEAD OF RADCLIFFE A.S.U. QUITS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Afraid of "becoming a tool of the Communist Party," Miss Muriel Gravell '40, of Radcliffe, resigned as president of the Radcliffe chapter of the American Student Union, widening the rift in the A. S. U. over its stand on the Russian invasion of Finland, it was learned last night.

Miss Gravell said that she "strongly disapproved" of the A. S. U.'s refusal to condemn the Russian invasion. At present she feels that Alan Gottlieb '41, who has sought a referendum in behalf of the Harvard chapter, will have but slight chance of persuading the A. S. U. to reverse its stand.

In accepting Miss Gravell's resignation, Miss Jane Sachs '40, vice-president, and Miss Margaret Gelders '42, treasurer, stated that the stand taken by the Madison convention will "stimulate discussion."
