FRESHMAN CHEW OUTSTRIPS VARSITY BY LENGTH IN THAT

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Rowing under the moral possible conditions, an amazing Freshman new pulled to a one and a quarter lentgh victory over the Varsity yesterday afternoon. Slightly behind at the start, the Yardlings handled poor conditions beautifully with a low powerful stroke set by Jim Hall, their newpace-setter, and pulled steadily away after the three quarter mile mark.

The Jayvees and third Varsity finished come four and six lengths behind respectively. The Varsity boat, trying too hard to build up an early lead, hit rough water and fell to pieces. They lost an early lead by splashing on the recovery and shipping a good deal of water.

Taken by surprise in this first meeting with the Freshmen, their next encounter will undoubtedly be a real battle. At any rate, coach Harvey Love with five inexperienced men in his boat has apparently come up with another record-breaking outfit.
