Denied Winter Campus Housing, International Students Scramble to Find Alternative Options
Thus far this season no brighter ray of hope has been shed for the future of the Varsity lacrosse team than yesterday's 8 to 2 victory over M. I. T. at the Business School Field.
Especially startling to everyone present was the showing of Norm Blotner, who was shifted from his regular position at first defense to play in the midfield at second defense. Twice Blotner, in spite of his inexperience in the forward wall, plowed through the Red defense for goals.
Hammond Strains Leg
The only casualty had by a Crimson befell Captain Phil Hammond, the team's high scorer, who strained his leg. Hammond's quick flip, which he manages so dexterously at close quarters, has thus far proved one of the leading bulwarks of his squad's offensive.
In spite of the rain-soaked playing surface and an intermittent drizzle, the Stableymen's steamroller began to function smoothly in the second quarter. Anderson, as well as Blotner, accounted for two points, while Willard, Doughty, Ferris, and Halstead each scored once.
Skip Stahley Pleased
Last night Skip Stahley expressed satisfaction with the general work of his ten, as compared with their playing in the Stevens game last Saturday, but added, "We can improve our stick handling and shooting."
Those who saw action for Harvard were: Hanford and Riecken at goal; Livingston and Behr, point; Wilcox and Behr, coverpoint; Blotner, Gilbert, and Benedix, first defense; Ferris, Edmunds, Tonner, and Blotner, second defense; Willard and Doughty, center; Downey, Bird, Downs, Blanchard, second attack; Anderson and Riecken, first attack; Zouck and Ieradi, out home; and Hammond, Halstead, Stein, in home.
Playing in the field adjoining the Varsity's, the Freshmen partially made up for the trouncing they got from Deerfield on Saturday by taking over the M.I.T. cubs 5 to 2. Staber made two goals, while Rothschild, Sullivan, and Whitehead accounted for the other three.
