Baseball, Lacrosse, and Fencing Teams Embark Upon Annual Spring Games

Three of the University's athletic contingents will head south today and tomorrow in extensive spring trips. Leaving tomorrow afternoon will be a squad of 16 Varsity baseball players carefully chosen by Coach Floyd Stahley to take part in the team's annual Spring Vacation tour and play with five of the best college nines in the South.

On Sunday morning a lacrosse unit, 17 strong, will take the road enroute for extremely of Pennsylvania, Maryland and the Navy. First to move into action will be Coach Rene Percy's fencers, who are competing in the Intercollegiate Fencing association's forty-sixth annual individual and team championship tournament today and tomorrow, in New York City's 17th Regimental Armory.

Veteran Nine

Led by Captain Art Johns and Lupe Lupien, the baseball squad beasts an all-veteran outfield and infield, with the exception of Sophomore shortstop Fred Keyes. Veteran batterymen are Tom Healey and Slim Curtiss, and Bob Fulton, first-team catcher from last season.

With Lupien at first, Captain Johns at second, Keyes at short, and heavy-bitting Reine Grondahl holding down the hot corner, the infield stands complete. In the outfield are the veterans, Bob Garnett, Rud Hoye, adn Joe Soltz.

Opposing the batmen during the nine-day recess will be teams from the Naval Training Station. North Carolina, Duke, Georgetown, and finally Navy.

Skip Stahley, expressing optimism in spite of his squad's luck of outdoor practice, has chosen a tentative lineup, which includes George Hanford at goal; Ralph Livingston, point; Ben Wilcox, coverpoint; Norm Blotner, first defense; Jim Doughty, second defense, Jess Willard, center; Pete Zouck, second attack; Doug Anderson, first attack; Hank Ricckeu, out home; and Captain Phil Hammond at in home.

To oppose the 11 other colleges inn the fencing tourney will be the following nine men from Cambridge; Skip Batchelder, Bill Croack, Joe Doyle, Art Jares, Cranny Jones, Al Labastle, Amos Murphy, Hal Park, and Tom Wright.
