Before a conference of university presidents in Columbia, Missouri, yesterday, President Conant gave a talk on the "Role of Privately Endowed Institutions in Our Program of Higher Education."

He was also the only Harvard representative to attend the annual meeting of the Association of American Universities. Both meetings were held on the University of Missouri campus.

At the conference of the presidents, President Sproul of the University of California gave the other main speech when he spoke on the role of state supported institutions.
