With a burst of latent power kept undercover all season, Coach Henry lamar's Jayvee eleven steamrolled over an outclassed Boston University Freshman contingent and emerged on the long end of a 26 to 0 count yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field.
The Crimson tasted pay dirt early in the game when Lo Withington scored on a line buck after a sustained first quarter march. Captain Hammy Wood made the score 7 to 0 as his kick safely split the uprights for the extra point.
Two Scores in Fourth
Another score came in the third period on a long pass and the Lamarmen struck again twice in the fourth stanza. The Terriers never seriously threatened, only once penetrating as far as the Harvard 25-yard line.
Twice in the initial quarter, Crimson marches were halted on the one-yard line by stubborn Terrier goal line stands. Still tenacious they stopped the Jayvee attack again in the following period on the twenty-yard marker.
Buckley to Tine
Shortly after half-time, the Lamarmen began to click, reaching the 25-yard stripe in short order. Here, Ed Buckley faded back and fired a fifteen yard pass to Hal Tine who scampered over for the second tally. The kick was wide.
The Terriers faded badly in the last stanza, allowing the Jayvees to push over two touchdowns, one on a pass from "Squibby" Squibb to Gordon and the other on a short pass, Bigwood to Kayser. Fumbling the pass from center in an attempted kick for the extra point, Feary plunged over through a maze of Terrier tacklers to make the score 26 to 0.
Dimeff Stands Out
In the line, John Dimeff played a standout game at left end as did Wood at tackle. Buckley and Tine were the main guns in the backfield.
It was the third victory in four starts for the Jayvee squad who tangle with Yale's Junior Varsity next Friday afternoon on Soldiers Field. They have racked up wins over the Dartmouth Jayvees and the Northeastern '43, suffering a single defeat, 15 to 13, at the hands of a scrappy Princeton aggregation.
