While cleaning out a clogged fireplace in Hollis 31 yesterday, three maintenance men came upon a cache of unexploded World War bullets located part way up the flue.
Frank H. Hammond '43, occupant of the room, said he had no idea there was anything so dangerous in his fire-place; he had already had several small fires there.
The maintenance men claimed that if the heat had been intense enough the bullets would have exploded, demolishing the north wall of Hollis to say nothing of the occupant of Hollis 31.
