HOCKEY TOURENY FOR HOUSES ARRANGED BY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

Long-Desired Intramural Matches Are Available After Mid-Years at New Club Rink

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Once again this year the Houses are to have a formal hockey tournament thanks to the Boston Skating Club, which has turned over its excellent new rink on Soldiers Field Road to the Athletic Association for 160 hours a week.

According to tentative arrangements drawn up by Coach Clark Hodder of the Varsity squad and Adolph Samborski, Director of Intramural Athletics, the tourney will begin the weekend before the end of Mid-Years and continue for seven Monday evenings.

As a special feature the House players will be coached by the regular Varsity staff and will have time to practice before the formal matches start.

This season's series is to be purely an experiment, Coach Hodder announces, but next year the House games will be put on a "permanent basis."

1936 Tournament

Three years ago an extremely successful tournament was held, but the heads of intramural sports feel that the present project will be even more enthusiastically received. In 1936, when 150 men signed up, Winthrop captured first honors and lost to Yale's champion sextet by the score of 4-2.

For the first time in the history of the Crimson intra-mural puck-handling, the Jayvees will be combined with the House teams. During Mid-years the managers of the various Houses are planning to recruit and organize all those interested. Located conveniently in Brighton, the Skating Club's ultra-modern building contains the largest indoor skating surface in New England and is furnished with elaborate locker and shower rooms.
