LAWRENCE NINE BOWS TO YARDLING BATTERS

FIFTH FRESHMAN WIN AGAINST ONE LOSS THIS SEASON

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Outhitting and outshining its schoolboy opponents in the field, the Freshman baseball team rode to its fifth victory of the season in trouncing Lawrence Academy 15-3 at Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon in an eight inning game, called because of darkness.

Nine Lawrence errors contributed to the Yardling victory as the Samborksi team pounded two enemy pitchers for 11 hits, while Jack Shwede and Charlie Brackett, who went to Shwede's relief in the eighth, were allowing Lawrence six knocks. The Crimson infield was guilty of four misplays.

Six Crimson Scores In Fourth

Lawrence grabbed a one run lead in their first time at plate on a single, an error, and a passed ball which allowed Frankie McTighe to score from third. But the Yardlings tied it up in their half of the inning when Lee Hartstone tallied on two boots, a stolen base, and Charlie Davis' infield grounder.

Shwede Tightens

Again the schoolboys took the lead in the second, but went scoreless in the third as Shwede grew stronger on the Crimson mound. Hits by Hartstone, Davis, and Red Tully brought two more runs for Coach Adolf Samborski's nine.

Not satisfied with their lone run margin, in the fourth the Yardlings capitalized on four errors and as many basehits to send six runs across the plate and remove the outcome from danger.

To date the Freshmen have won five and lost one, beating Tome, Gilman, Huntington, Thayer, before yesterday's game and bowing to B.U.
