Fate of the Student Council's recommendation that swimming be a major sport rests with the Athletic Committee today as it meets behind closed doors to deliberate the final step.
Chairman William J. Bingham '16 refused to comment on the action of the student board last Wednesday. In the meantime Coach Kiphuth of Yale kept tight-lipped silence on Harvard's action saying nothing of probable steps on the part of the Elis to follow the Crimson precedent.
Pointed out were the number of undergraduates participating in the sport, the interest shown by spectators, training and competitive periods in comparison with other major sports, and status of swimming as a "major" in other colleges.
