THE KIRKLAND YEAR BOOK

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The news that Kirkland House is preparing to print a Year Book to record its activities is a significant item. Every development which tends to make the Houses centers of intellectual, social, and athletic activities is constructive and progressive, and the Year Book should certainly have this result.

Morover, projects such as this will ultimately lead to a wholesale shift of the center of gravity from the College to the Houses, and this will make easier and more logical the development of individual House "personality." This is an ultimate goal for the House system, and will go far toward remedying the illogical present situation in which Freshmen choose a House on ridiculous criteria the construction of the building, the comfort of the common room chairs, or the number of attractive waitresses. Two years ago House "personality" was a nebulous idea, a pious hope; today there are signs of its realization.
