FESLERMEN TRAINING FOR OPENER WITH M.I.T.

Humes Likely Choice in the Pivot Post For Game Scheduled for Dec. 6 in Opponents' Gym

A red-shirted second Varsity basketball team composed of Dick Sullivan, Dick Rabenold, Homer Peabody, Sam White, and Fran Simpson threw up a tight defense and did better than hold their own in a heated half-hour scrimmage against Captain Lupien's first team as Coach Wes Fesler sent his hoopmen into their second week of practice.

The season's opener for the Feslermen will come on Tuesday, December 6, at M. I. T. in Hangar Gymnasium. The regular Crimson five was not quite up to form yesterday, but it is unlikely that any of the men on the first quintet will be dislodged from their positions by next Tuesday.

Charley Lutz is ready for a bigger and better year than ever from his forward spot, and his running mate, Chet Legg, carries plenty of scoring punch. Hill Humes is well ahead in the scrap for the pivot post and Lupe Lupien is a fixture as one of the guards. The veteran Fred Hockel has held down the other guard position ever since the first practice session, and he has done a fine job filling the shoes of last year's Captain Vern Struck.

The M. I. T. encounter is only the first of five games scheduled for the basketball team before Christmas vacation, because Northeastern, Brown, Boston University and, Wesleyan appear in succession at the Indoor Athletic Building to get the Crimson tuned up for another stiff season of league competition.
