Today is the last day for undergraduates to apply for positions as ushers for the football games this fall. Graduates desiring an ushering post and all students wishing to act as ticket takers need not report until Wednesday.
Prospective undergraduate ushers must appear at the H. A. A. offices in the Union from 2 until 4 o'clock this afternoon, while graduates must make applications at the same hours on Wednesday.
From 4 to 6 o'clock today and tomorrow the head ticket taker will see all students seeking positions at the gates to the stadium. Because of the need of experienced ticket takers in the future, the University is anxious to have as many Freshmen sign up as possible.
Ushers, of course, have an opportunity to witness all of each game played at Soldiers Field free of charge. Since ticket takers are only permitted to see one half of the game, they will receive a weekly stipend of two dollars.
Responsibility for proper use of tickets applies to both ushers and ticket takers although personal use is waived. In case of violation of regulations, the offenders will be subject to the usual penalty of black listing.
If members of the University who have agreed to assist at the games, fail to appear for work, their names will be dropped from the list and they may be black listed.
The H. A. A. feels that experience is very important in raising the efficiency of handling grid spectators, and so will continue its past policy of giving preference to Undergraduate applicants.
All former section head and assistant head ushers who are attending the University this fall and who wish to work at the football games again, are expected to report to the Head Usher at the appointed hours. Former ticket takers desiring to continue this work should file application to the chief ticket taker at the same time as new men.
