Ralph Bates, British novelist and officer in the international Brigade, will be presented to a Harvard audience this Thursday night by the Harvard Student Union in cooperation with the Teachers Union.

Mr. Bates knows Spain; this knowledge has served as substance for his two best sellers, "Lean Men" and "The Olive Field." After serving in the World War as a volunteer, he went to Barcelona where he has spent many of the intervening years. His background includes service in the revolution of 1931 which established the republic that he is now defending.
