BROOKS HOUSE TO RECEIVE FRESHMAN AT 7.30 TONIGHT

P. B. H. Officers Discuss Plans for This Year--Freshman Committee Will Be Organized Soon

Eleven undergraduate extra-curricular activity leaders will address all new Freshmen at a reception being held in Philips Brooks House this evening at 7.30 o'clock. These men will explain the ins and outs of such organizations as the Student Council, the CRIMSON, and football managerships. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the speaking.

Speaking

Opening the program, Rolf Kaltenborn '37, President of P. B. H., will outline the work done in Brooks House, placing emphasis on the Freshman Committee. Other speakers and the organizations they represent will be: John B. Bowditch '37, President of the CRIMSON, Arnett McKennan '37, Secretary of the Lampoon; F. Corning Kenly, Jr. '37, President of the Advocate; John H. Eric '37, Secretary of the Glee Club; Theodore C. Osborne '37, President of the Instrumental Clubs; Lemuel B. Hunter '37, President of the Pierian Sodality of 1808; Walter H. Page, II '37, Manager of University Football; George G. Hedblom '37, Secretary of the Student Council; Stephen Greene '38, President of the Dramatic Club; and Thomas W. Stephenson '37, president of the Debating Council.

Philips Brooks House sponsors this reception for Freshmen every fall. The House, which does a great deal of charity work each year, is headed by an undergraduate president, Kaltenborn, and a graduate secretary, Raymond Dennett '36. The first meeting for 1936-37 of the Brooks Cabinet, the executive organization of the House, was held last Saturday night at the Lincoln Camp in East Gloucester.

Cabinet Members

Members of the Cabinet present were: Kalternborn, Dennett, Bowditch, Rodman W. Paul '36, Harold W. Danser, Jr. '37, Walter I. Tucker, 2M, Edward T. Ladd '38, Nathaniel H. Batchelder, Jr. '39, Sheldon Ware '38, Coleman Burke 3L, Shafer Williams 2Dv., Elliott B. Knowleton '39, and Oliver P. Bolton '39.

The general lineup for the work this year was discussed in detail during a three-hour evening meeting. A plan for lectures by criminal and police heads was announced by Knowleton of the Social Service Committee; he also said that settlement house work would continue as usual. Bolton discussed in detail the work which he plans to have the Freshman committee do this year. This will include Red Cross driving, work which he plans to have the Freshman committee do this year. Handbook Profit

Finally a profit was announced of $300 on the 1936 handbook by Danser. He outlined plans for the book next year and mentioned the possibility of increasing the size and scope of the book.
