On the way to the field of combat yesterday afternoon, the warring forces of the CRIMSON and Lampoon baseball stars buried their hatchets long enough to challenge Coach Samborski's nine. The latter, however, loath to risk their high-ranking status, rejected the challenge on the grounds that their multiuniformed antagonists were not fit opposition.

Hoots and jeers greeted the refusal, and to the cry "We're undefeated, too," accompanied by a barrage of beer cans, the Yardlings could find no reply.
