The Crimson Moviegoer

Fans of Astaire and Rogers will be by no means disappointed in the team's new picture, "Shall We Dance," now showing at Keith Memorial. The show is superbly balanced with dancing, music, comedy, and romance all fitting in to make excellent entertainment.

Edward Everett Horton and Eric Blore turn in their usual fine performances and play no small part in making this picture laugh provoking. Gershwin music is hard to catch, but two numbers, "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off," and "You Can't Take That Away From Me," immediately set the audience humming.

Mr. Astaire and Miss Rogers bring their devotees something new to talk about by way of a roller skating act. The story, of course, is unimportant, and this time concerns the rumored marriage of a psuedo-Russian ballet dancer (Astaire) and an American jazz singer (Rogers). An ocean crossing provides the setting for an original act in the engine room, where a colored swing band assembles to "slap the bass" in time with the engines and Astaire's feet.
