Four thousand dollars were given for scholarships for civics teachers in the new Graduate School of Teaching by Frank G. Thomson '97, a Philadelphia lawyer.
Preference is to be given to teachers of civics selected from New England preparatory schools. He expressed the hope that the teachers would be trained so that they would interest their students to take a part in active government.
Also Will Give $750,000
Thomson is a member of the Overseers Committee on the Department of Government at Harvard and has been a donor to the College previously.
