CRIMSON COMPETING IN HOCHGEBIRGE RACE ON FRANCONIA TAFT TRAIL

THIRD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE AT WOODSTOCK

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Sponsored by the Nansen Ski Club, the Hochgebirge Race on Sunday morning will be the center of attention at Franconia. Skiers are coming from all over New England to partake, and early indications point to a record field in the event.

In the afternoon, a slalom race is to held in front of Peckett's at Sugar Hill in Franconia. Only the first four finishers of each team in the morning downhill race are eligible for this competition.

Dartmouth is sending its A and B Teams which last weekend led by Captain Ben Woods, won the Eastern Combined Jumping and Cross Country Championships held in Brattleboro.

Invitation Race

Representing the Crimson in the Invitation Race will be Captain Adams Carter, Bob Shaw, Dave Emerson, Charlie Rogers, and Dunbar Carpenter. On their last visit to the Richard Taft Trail, the skiers took time trials and the time made by Dave Emerson compared favorably with the record time of two minutes 42 seconds set by Dick Durrance of Dartmouth who is now taking part in the Olympics.

At Woodstook

Playing host to the aspirants for the third class championship crown, the Woodstock Outing Club will hold the race on the Russell Mountain North Trail. After an all day snow fall on Thursday, the members have been using the run so that ideal conditions will prevail. It is expected that the present record time of four minutes 11 seconds will be eclipsed by the flying boards of the title seekers.

While Dartmouth is to be represented by its C Team, it is uncertain whether here will be any members of the Crimson team in the race.
