PURITANS' SHOVEL BRIGADE CLEARS ROADS FOR DANCE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Energetic Winthrop House Dance Committeemen organized a shovel brigade yesterday to combat the rising tide of water and slush and clear a parking space for the Friday evening dance.

Lest the fair maidens who are expected at the dance be forced to swim for it and their brawny escorts.

Assisted by members of the Polar Hear Club, who revel in such work, and by two 2-ton trucks belonging to the Maintenance Department the Puritans cleared an area of over 200 yards along Mill street, making available ample room for the swanky cars of the eager dancers.

There is little danger now that the escorts of the fair maidens who are expected to appear will have to follow the example of Walter Raleigh in order to pilot them to security of dry land.
