Richard G. Powell '38, of Englewood, New Jersey, was elected captain of the Varsity soccer team for 1937 at a meeting held yesterday afternoon in the Dillon Field House.
Powell, who played fullback on his Freshman team, has occupied that position for the last two years. He prepared for Harvard at Andover, is 19, weighs 145 pounds, and is 5 feet 8 inches tall.
He succeeds James A. E. Wood '37, who began the 1936 season by beating Amherst, and who leaves behind a respectable series of wins to his credit.
Morris Earle '38 will be manager of the 1937 soccer team. He held the post of assistant manager of the Varsity team for 1936. He is a member of the Student Council, and the executive board of the Student Union and is an editor of the CRIMSON.
