Jesse Isidor Straus '93, who recently retired as American Ambassador to France, died yesterday morning at his home in New York. Together with his brothers Percy S. Straus '97 and Herbert N. Straus '03, he was the donor of Straus Hall built in 1926 in honor of his parents.
Mr. Straus, who was born in 1872, served on the Board of Overseers, was president of R. H. Macy & Co. of New York, director of the New York Life Insurance Company, vice-president of the New York Chamber of Commerce, trustee of the Bowery Savings Bank, and a member of the Democratic Party.
