HARVARD DEFEATS YALE IN NEW HAVEN DEBATE

Defending Rooseveltian policies, the Harvard Debating team won out at Yale by an overwhelming vote of the audience. With 500 people attending the debate in the Auditorium, the vote was about 375 to 125 in favor of the Crimson orators, who upheld the negative of the question, "Resolved: That this House favors the election of Alfred M. Landon as president of the United States."

The debate at Yale was broadcast on a New Haven station and was preceded by a torchlight parade through the college grounds.

At the same time in the Lowell House common room a Harvard team upheld the affirmative of the same question before an audience of 38. Although no decision was taken, a poll was taken of the audience on their general feelings toward the candidates. Roosevelt received 26 votes, Landon 11, and Thomas 1.
