STUBBS CUTS HOCKEY SQUAD AS GAME NEARS

ALLEN ABSENT BECAUSE OF FALL SPORTS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Restricted by the absence of two fifths of the hockey squad till the end of the fall season, Coach Joe Stubbs has turned his attentions during the two weeks of early practice to the selecting of the most promising men from the 18 men who have escaped the ax.

Of the Sophomores who have been out this fall, only four remain: Cutter, Mechem, Moore and Carstein. Notable among the second year men absent because of fall sports is Captain Russ Allen of last year's crack Freshman outfit.

Up from the Jayvees of last year come Pete Perry, Charlie Bellows, Bill Quinby, Swede Claflin and Jim Kidder. The Varsity stronghold remains intact.

Practices next week and thereafter will begin to see the formation of permanent combinations as Coach Stubbs, having moulded the squad to proper size, and being able to count definitely on men from the fall sports, lays his plans for the opener against Tech two and a half weeks hence.

With the old "H" line of last year's Varsity team broken up by the graduation of one man, Coach Stubbs is rebuilding his forward line. Men whose name begin with "H" are especially welcome candidates for this year's hockey team.
