TRACK HOPES BLASTED AS TEAM LOSES CALVIN

OUTSTANDING IN 100, 220, AND IN BROAD JUMP

Harvard's prospects for a successful track season have suffered an almost irreparable blow in the loss of Eddie Calvin, stellar dash man and broad jumper, as the result of an attack of scarlet fever early this year. The speedy Junior, who has been working out steadily since his supposed recovery, is still very weak, and has not been able to round into any sort of form.

While it has been hoped that he would be sufficiently recovered in time to compete in the Greater Boston Intercollegiates on April 27 and 28, all such aspirations were dashed to the ground when it was learned that the was still very weak and that he had not been out since Tuesday. It was stated that he would be very lucky if he were able to run in the Yale meet, and that there was definitely no chance that he would be able to compete at all before that time.

In the Yale meet last year, Calvin took three first places, winning the 100 and 200 meter dashes, and the broad jump. This year, in his present condition, he has been unable to do 100 yards in less than 11 seconds, while he was stepping it in 9.4 seconds consistently last spring.
