TRACK TEAM FAVORED IN THREE-CORNERED MEET

The closest team fight and some of the classiest competition in the fifteen years of Triangular Meet competition is scheduled for tomorrow night when the track and field athletes of Harvard, Dartmouth, and Cornell meet at the Boston Garden. Two of the events are scheduled in the afternoon at the Briggs Cage at Soldiers Field. The 16-pound shot put and the 35-pound weight throw will be held there at 2.30 o'clock. The eleven other Track and field events will take place at the Garden along with a special Freshman 50 Yard Dash and relay which do not figure in the team count for points.

Harvard has won every Triangular Meet since 1925 but Cornell and Dartmouth bring two well balanced teams to Boston and the dopesters have it that the team honors will more than probably leave Cambridge this year. Only perfor- mances of acme quality on the part of the Harvard athletes will retain the team title for the Crimson. Cornell is particularly strong in the track events while Dartmouth has the edge in the field though both teams have the necessary balance to give stiff competition.

The Harvard squad has been rapidly improving since the beginning of the indoor season and Coach Farrell has the team primed for this final test of the winter season. The possibilities of a win hinge largely upon the scoring power in the Hurdles, 600 metre race, the Shot Put, and the Mile Relay race. The dash and middle-distance runners have not shown any particular color this season and are not counted upon to mass any total of points in their events.

Previous performances this winter have not been particularly startling for the Crimson forces. At the IC4A meet held last Monday, Harvard came in a poor sixth and Cornell was a strong fifth while Dartmouth trailed the Crimson. However the team totals in this competition are more on a basis of individual performances and are not entirely indicative of team balance. Though Harvard captured the Class A College title at the K of C meet two weeks ago it was unimpressive, and a complete reversal of form is in order if Dartmouth and Cornell are to be staved off.
