GUTHEIM SUCCEEDS VOSE AS HEAD OF NEW FIRST STATION

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Herman E. Gutheim, captain of the Engine 5 Company, will take the place of Chief Cutler L. Vose as head of the Cambridge Fire Department, which moved into its new headquarters opposite Memorial Hall this month.

Chief Vose's retirement will become effective March 31, and Mayor Richard M. Russell '14 submitted Captain Gutheim's name to the City Council. Gutheim has been a member of the Cambridge department for 34 years, and an officer for 23 years. Since 1931 he has been drillmaster of the drill school which Mayor Russell established in that year.
