For the first time in the history of Harvard boxing, the Varsity mittmen turned back the Blue threat from New Haven and topped off one of the most successful seasons in years by winning from Yale, 6-2, in the Yale gym on Saturday.
The lone kayo of the evening was registered by William A. Smith '36, the Crimson 175-pounder who succeeded in flattening the Yale entrant in this event. The Harvard team won four of the bouts by decision, one by default and the other by a knockout.
Thomas J. Curtin '34, fighting from behind in the opening bout of the evening, managed to overcome the lead taken by Newman, the Yale 115-pounder in the first round and at the end of the scrap the Harvard boxer had won the decision by a wide margin. After the opening win by Curtin that put the Crimson in the lead, Yale took the 125-pound class with Gardner getting the decision over Captain Marshall A. Lamb '34.

Heavyweight class: Bradford Simmons '34 defeated Stein (Y) by default.
Freshman Boxers Defeat Yale
The 1937 boxing team vanquished the Yale cubs 4 1-2 to 3 1-2 in a close meet at New Haven last Saturday. The Crimson pugilists won four out of the eight outs, the 135-pound match being declared a draw.
