INFORMAL FALL TRACK SEASON OPENED EARLY

With the opening of informal fall track, Eddle Farrell is faced with the prospects of a team which cannot be beaten in track events but which can hardly count on ten points in its field events. The loss of Dean and Healey leaves a gap which it will be difficult to fill. These two men alone assured Harvard of 16 points in the shot put and discus throw at every meet last year.

A supply of new talent is necessary here if Harvard is to regain its track supremacy, and it is believed that much of this talent will come from the football ranks. such men as Husband, Giles, Johnson, Field, and Jackson would give Cahners and Millard strong support in the weight-tossing.

For the sprints, there will be Miller, Brayton, Brookings, and Calvin, who won 56 points in his Sophomore year. In the hurdles, Crawford, Hayes, Withington, and Green will uphold Harvard's supremacy. Middle-distance men include Derrickson, Bliss, Channing, Walker, Marcy, Brayton, Floyd, and Woodward, all of whom were scoring men for last year's Varsity or Freshman teams. Crimson runners should not lose a first place in the distance events, with Captain Scheu, Woodard, Playfair, Pier, Roys, and Webster to take the mile and two-mile. Calvin and Green in the broad-jump; and Woodberry, Schumann, and Dubiel in the pole-vault complete the roll of top-scorers.
