BASKETBALL MEN OPEN WITH NOTABLE B.U. WIN

CAPABLE PLAY ALTERNATES WITH MUCH MEDIOCRITY

Starting the new season off with a bang, the Harvard Varsity hoopsters downed B.U. last night to the tune of 40 to 24 in a sloppy game at the New Indoor Athletic Building.

The game was marked by spurts of capable play alternating with much very mediocre performance. Jim Grady led the Crimson team in scoring with six baskets and a free throw, closely followed by Bill Gray, who garnered six goals from the floor after replacing Captain Dick Boys. Gray's height was of great assistance to the Harvard team, although it seemed to be used about equally in the horizontal and vertical planes.

The second team of Gray, White, Moser, Kollinites, and Lavietes played out the last part of both halves, and compared very favorably with the Varsity showing. The game was won on work under the basket where Gray and White were particularly outstanding. HARVARD  B. U.
