Flynn Sees Trend Towards A Dictatorship in America

Noted Economist Declares N.R.A. Made For and By Big Business

Declaring that the NRA was invented to prevent Congress from fixing prices hostile to the interests of big business, John T. Flynn, noted economist, prophesied the coming of dictatorship in this country in a speech last night in the New Lecture Hall.

Mr. Flynn stated that the New Deal's crime against the democratic state was that it grants the President power to surrender the control of the economic life of the people to trade associations and large corporations. He expected to see legal control of labor unions followed by the cooperative state, the disappearance of democracy, and a slow but sure movement toward absolute dictatorship.

This development he attributed to the ineptness of Liberals, who, since they oppose collectivism but propose no new measures, are, he said, vanishing from the scene in dealing with problems. Consequently, he emphasized, the world is everywhere clamoring for dictatorship.

The problem can be solved, he continued, only if the Liberal applies his political principles to economic life, and a distribution of economic, as well as political rights takes place.
