PENN OVERCOMES QUINTET IN FIRST LEAGUE CONTEST

Captain Boys and Gray Are Rendered Ineffectual as O'Donnell Piles Up Points for Victors

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Outplayed from the opening whistle, the Harvard Varsity cagers lost their first League contest by the score of 26 to 16 to a strong and experienced Pennsylvania five at Philadelphia Saturday night.

Only Jim Grady was able to elude the Red and Blue defense with any regularity, and he was held to six points. The Harvard team seemed slow and unsure in comparison to their stronger rivals. Captain Boys, who started at guard, was again sent out on fouls, and even Long Bill Gray was rendered ineffectual by the close Quaker guarding.

O'Donnell was high scorer of the game, tallying eight of the Penn, team's points, closely followed by his lengthy captain, Bob Freeman, with seven counters.
