STUDENT COUNCIL MAKES OBJECTIONS TO RIOTS AT GAMES

Objections Based on "Childishness" of University Members Subjecting Selves To "Really Great Danger"

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Objecting to the riots which have been increasing in intensity after every football game this fall, the Student Council issued a statement last night asking the undergraduates to refrain from taking part in a practice which involves a "really great danger."

The full statement which was issued by E. Francis Bowditch '35, President of the Student Council, is as follows:

"Unfortunately after the last few football games the riots around the goal posts have been growing ever larger and ever more dangerous. It sometimes seems as if some people went to the games more for the riot than to see the football game.

"We are especially disturbed about it, not so much from the ethical point of view, but on the grounds that it shows certain members of the college to be extremely childish in subjecting themselves and others to a really grave danger. It is a very sure thing that if a man were hit on the head by one of the falling goal posts he would be seriously injured, if not killed.

"Therefore, we earnestly request that all members of the University refrain from joining in any riots around the goal posts after the remaining games of the season. If everyone will do his part, the matter will pass over, and there will be no more needless risk of human life."

H.A.A. Makes Statement

It was stated at the H.A.A. last night that the Athletic Association pledges its support of the Student Council in its attempt to prevent violent goalpost riots.
