Casey Initiates Year Round Football Practice For All

Freshman and Varsity Players To Begin In Briggs Cage Monday

Initiating a new scheme for keeping the football players in shape the year round, Coach Casey will open an informal practice for both Freshman and Varsity men Monday, in the Briggs Cage.

Although there have been sporadic attempts at spring sessions in the past the winter workouts will be used here for the first time. During the spring of 1932 and to some extent last spring practices were held informally and attendance was voluntary. It is expected that practices this year will continue into the spring since Coach Casey is at present on an all-year schedule. Many of the football players are now competing in other sports and as before the attendance in the cage will be voluntary.

The uncertainty surrounding the makeup of the coaching staff next fall has made it necessary for Coach Casey to handle the players himself during the winter. Fundamentals will be stressed with the emphasis on kicking blocking, and tackling, and the soft earth of the cage is expected to furnish satisfactory footing.

After a discontinuance since the end of the football season, the Varsity Club will reopen today for members of the hockey and winter track squads. Following the practice observed during the football season, only luncheon and dinner will be served there.
