A fighting Eli basketball team shattered the Crimson's hopes to win its first Eastern League game last night when it walked off with a 41-21 victory at the New Indoor Athletic Building. Wilson, DeAngelis, and Miles were the leaders of the bulldog attack and accounted for 32 Eli points. Dick Boys was the high-point scorer for the Crimson and netted nine points for Harvard, three goals and three free throws.
The Eli men got off to a quick start and netted nine points before Harvard realized what had happened. Then Captain Ferriter called for time-out and with a fresh start, the Harvard offense began to show itself, and during the remainder of the half, both teams netted ten points each, making the score 19-10. The blue team had the overwhelming advantage of a giant center, Ned Wilson, 6 feet seven inches in height, who always got the tip off and set the Yale plays in action.
At the beginning of the second half, Yale began the process of rolling up the score which proceeded at a fast rate when the Crimson seconds were sent in.
The summary: Score--Yale 41, Harvard 21. Goals--Wilson 6, DeAngelis 4, Miles 4, Boys 3, Reese 2, Comfort 1, Ernst 1, Fletcher 1 (technical), Kellogg 1. Free throws--Boys 3, DeAngelis 3, Ernst 1, Ferriter 1, Miles 1, Reese 1. Referee: Brennan. Umpire--Young. Scorekeeper--Von Brieson. Time--two 20-minute halves.
