The Varsity baseball team which is tied with Columbia for the Eastern Intercollegiate League leadership will play its first home game of the season this afternoon at 3 o'clock at Soldiers Field. The Harvard Alumni team, composed of men prominent in Harvard baseball in recent years will provide the opposition and A. G. Whitney, manager, believes he has a stronger team than was the case a year ago when the Varsity won, 9-4.
It was in the Alumni game a year ago that Loughlin made his pitching debut in Harvard baseball. Today he will be held in reserve and Harold Taylor probably will draw the starting assignment from Coach Mitchell. No changes are planned in the Harvard lineup and the personnel of the team will be the same as defeated Princeton and Pennsylvania.
The entire Soldiers Field stands will be unreserved for the admission price of $.55.
