The first official House crew race is scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, When the Houses will compete for the Agassiz Cup. The crews will then be reorganized to include only men of satisfactory scholastic standing, in preparation for rowing against Yale. The winner of a race to be held Tuesday, May 9 will meet the best Yale class crew on Saturday, May 20. For the men who remain on the House crews after the Yale race, a medal event will be included in the ensuing Spring Regatta.
So far, the Winthrop House crew shows the most power on the river, Coach Ed Brown said yesterday. The House crews have been out only a month and bad weather has prevented much practice. Winthrop's standing is no certain indication of its future position, however, for two other House crews have exhibited better smoothness and timing in the practice sessions.
All the Houses have put full crews into the field; vacant positions will soon therefore, have to be filled, or combinations made. Last year five Houses were represented on the river, and Eliot House kept two or three crews on the river for the entire season.
