MUSEUM TO SHOW FIRST GERMAN FILM IN MARCH

Now that enough money has been raised the Germanic Museum in connection with the German Department of the University plans to present the first German talking picture here about the middle of March, at the Germanic Museum Building. The announcement was made by C. L. Kuhn, curator of the Museum. In addition to giving students the opportunity of hearing German spoken, it is also supported because it is a phase of modern art.

Donations Anonymous

The money for the first picture was donated by two anonymous friends of the Museum and if more is forthcoming in the future, it is hoped to make these movies a regular fortnightly feature. Renaissance Hall is to be used as the auditorium because there are not sufficient funds to rent the lecture room of the Rice School of Geography. The projecting apparatus there however, will be borrowed. At each of the planned performances in the afternoon and evening 400 people will be accommodated.

Three trial pictures are to be sent out from the International Cinema League of New York on Thursday; and Dr. Kuhn and Dr. Arthur Burkhard, assistant professor of German, plan to select one this week. The films under consideration are: Liebeskommand, Karamazoo, and West Front, 1918. The latter is a war picture and will probably not be used. While definite arrangements have not been made for tickets, it is understood that they will be free to all members of the University and Radcliffe.
