Though undefeated in the intercollegiate league the Varsity soccer team has apparently lost all chance of tieing for the American college soccer championship. The college team averages, which determine the winner of the award, show both Pennsylvania and Penn State undefeated and untied. The Crimson tied two contests during the season.
Penn State was scored on only once during the fall, and in the single case, as a result of a penalty kick. Pennsylvania, which shared the 1932 championship with Navy, scored its sixth consecutive victory last week in acquiring the Middle-Atlantic Intercollegiate championship, after a 6-0 win over Cornell.
The announcement of the championship winner is made in January. Unofficial final season records of the five leading teams in the American association follow: The winner of the intercollegiate award is not determined by the number of victories or tie games on a soccer teams's record, but on general excellence during the season. The merit of a team's opponents is also a factor considered in awarding the prizes.
