Dolly Stark's Big Green five rolled up a high score in defeating the Crimson basketball team by a 54-20 margin in the first Eastern Intercollegiate game Saturday night at Hanover. The Hanoverians flicked the ball into the hoop from all angles and from the middle of the floor with uncanny precision.
Demoralized by a 31-point onslaught by Dartmouth in the first 15 minutes of play in which Al Bonniwell and Jake Edwards, the Green forwards, figured as high-point scorers, Harvard trailed the whole game. Jim Grady again scored the highest number of points for the Crimson, with seven points, as Gene Merry accounted for five and Dan Comfort made four.
The Green team, which has been erratic in past events, reached the highest point in performance as its passes clicked and its defense was practically invulnerable.
The summary: Score: Dartmouth, 54. Harvard 20. Goals: Edwards 4, Bonniwell 4, Grady 3, Comfort 2, Krivitsky 2, Miller 2, Davis 2, Kraszewski 2, Dickinson 2, Levine 2, Merry 1, Ernst 1, McKernan 1, Stangle 1, Hubbell 1, Fouls: Bonniwell 4, Merry 3, Boys 2, McKernan 1, Kraszewski 1, Hubbell 1, Grady 1. Referee: Kenney, Umpire: Degnan. Time: two 20-minute halves.
