Conrad Nagel Compares Film Actresses to Meat Finds Bogey Men and Thugs too Active in Park

"The biggest trial in my life is coming next Saturday, when I'll be unable to attend the Harvard-Yale game on account of a matinee I have to give," remarked Conrad Negal in an interview with the CRIMSON yesterday.

Nagel does not agree with President Roosevelt's statement that movie stars are overpaid. He said: "Take Mae West--she was the whole attraction in her picture, 'She Done Him Wrong.' The picture took in about $2,500,000; and yet Miss West probably received less than two per cent of that figure. As long as she brings in the box receipts, she should get the money; because in ten years probably no one will know who Mae West is."

When asked what movie actress he most enjoyed playing opposite, Nagel said, "That's like asking me what kind of meat I like for dinner. Some nights I'm in the mood for chicken; other nights I prefer steak." He did mention however, the pleasure he had derived from acting with Greta Garbo, Norma Talmadge, and Ann Harding.

Mr. Nagel's pet aversious are sweetened corn bread and night clubs. His pet diversions are ping-pong and bicycling. Being very finicky about his table-tennis racquets, Nagel has imported an extra-large weapon from Germany. For the rest of his exercise, since he left his bicycle in the West, he finds it necessary to resort to ambulation. He usually walks from ten to fifteen miles a day. It was while walking around Central Park that he memorized the lines for the show in which he is now playing. "Being a timid young man," said Nagel. "I avoided the inside of the Park, where thugs and bogey men have been very active lately."

At the conclusion of the interview Mr. Nagel asked the reporter to obtain from some leading Harvard authority the preferred pronunciation of three words which appear in his present show. The words are: coadjutor, chalcedony, renascent. Page Professor Copeland!
