Half the Varsity squad was excused from practice yesterday afternoon as Coach Eddie Casey gave the regulars a rest after the Dartmouth game last Saturday. The remaining 20 second-stringers who were on the field scrimmaged the Jayvees and succeeded in tallying twice.
Pesky gave the Varsity its first score by running 40 yards through considerable opposition. Tackling was notice ably slipshed. The second touchdown came at the end of a 20-yard pass from Al Sherman to Chester Litman. In addition to this scrimmage the team went through a dummy scrimmage and the usual drill on fundamentals and assignment work. It is expected that the entire squad with the exception of Charley Nevin will report tomorrow and will go into action against the Jayvees. A second scrimmage will be held on Wednesday and possibly a third on Thursday Yesterday Captain John Dean was the only regular on the field and Casey kept him on the sidelines, during the entire scrimmage.
Yesterday's second string lineup was Check, l.e.; Littlefield, l.t.; Schumann l.g.; Simmons, c; Hesley, r.g.; Furion r.t.; Lowe (Kelly), r.e.; Whitney (Sherman), q.b.; Pescosolido (Litman), l.h.; Besle, r.h.; Waters r.b.
