STUDENT COUNCIL WILL HEAR CONANT AT FIRST MEETING

President of Council Will Lead Group In Discussion of Discontinuance of April Hours

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

President Conant will address the Student Council at its first meeting of the year tonight at 7.15 o'clock in University Hall. Although the subject of President Conant's talk has not been disclosed, it is expected he may reveal some new plans concerning the administration of the University.

Richard G. Ames '34, president of the Council; will preside at the meeting. The most important business of the evening will be a discussion on abolishing the April hours examinations for Juniors and Sophomores. For some time, there has been a movement in University circles to remove the April examinations, and early action by the Council is predicted. The benefits of allowing commuting students to use the House libraries will be another topic of discussion. Phillips Brooks House is an active supporter of this plan.

Other business to be considered will deal with the annual budget, the appointment of a Junior to be in charge of Freshman affairs, and the correction of a slight error in the Constitution.

The members of the Council for the year are: president, Richard G. Ames '34; secretary, Atreus van Schrader, Jr. '34; treasurer, Theodore Chase '34; John H. Dean '34; Bradford Simmons '34; Richard P. Waters, Jr. '34; Roger H. Martin '34; Carl A. Pescosolido '34; Richard Bassett '34; Alfred B. Hallowell '34; Edward P. Parker '34; Thomas J. Davis, Jr. '35; Thomas Hunter '35; David W. Lewis '35; Ebenezer F. Bowditch '35; Herman Gundlach, Jr. '35; and Franklin P. Whitbeck '35.
