At the first open meeting of the Mountaineering and Skiing Club held in Lowell A-32 last night, there was a showing of considerable interest in this young organization which is headed by H. B. Washburn '33. Some 20 enthusiasts heard of a plan to form a team of high calibre to represent Harvard in the skiing events in the annual Dartmouth Winter Carnival in February. The idea of skiing for competition is new here and should gain many followers.
The club also has plans for a summer camp of Harvard men in the Alaskan Rockies should enough interest be displayed in mountaineering. The membership of the club is still open and their president will be glad to supply any information.
