$100,000 GIVEN LIBRARY TO BE CALLED "PEABODY FUND"

A bequest of $100,000 for the purchase of books for the College Library will be received by the University under the will of Carolina E. Peabody of Cambridge. The gift is to be known as the "Andrew Preston Peabody Fund," in memory of her father. Miss Peabody also leaves to the University a portrait of her father by Vinton.

Andrew Preston Peabody, 1826, was preacher to the University and Plummer Professor of Christian Morals from 1860 to 1881. He was an overseer from 1883 to 1893.
