D. M. Frame '32 and S. E. Davenport '34 advanced to the semi-finals of the Eastern Intercollegiate tennis tournament at Rye, New York, yesterday. Davenport and F. O. Canfield '32 then teamed to win their doubles match, thereby reaching the third round of play.
Frame, who is seeded No. 1 in the tournament, beat Hawley of N. Y. U., 6-0, 6-2, while Davenport took his match from Swayze of N. Y. U., 6-2, 6-0. H. W. Cole '32, the other Harvard entry, did not play yesterday. On the basis of his showing in the Intercollegiates last year and his easy victories during the last few days, Frame is a strong favorite to win the tournament. A year ago, Frame reached the semi-finals where he was defeated by Hendlin of North Carolina.
Frame is captain of the Crimson team, which went through the current season with only one defeat, when it bowed to North Carolina, 6-3.
