New Haven, Conn., Jan. 7--Yale's finances are in such a condition that the University is faced with a probable $500,000 deficit at the end of the college year in June, it was learned here today from reliable sources. The stringent condition of the University's finances has already necessitated the release of 18 professors and instructors since the opening of the school year and will probably be the cause of several more releases in the near future. No new faculty appointments will be made during the present academic year, excepting appointments to faculty chairs which are privately endowed.
