The eleventh quadriennial convention of the Student Volunteer Movement of the United States and Canada was held this year at Buffalo from December 28 to January 3. About 29,000 students representing nearly every North American college gathered to consider "The Living Christ in the World Today," the theme of the convention. American missionaries and nationals from all corners of the globe proved vividly the value of Christianity in each of their respective countries.
Much of the time was devoted to analyzing the present world situation and discussing the value of missionary work in this situation. In a discussion of disarmament and world peace on News Years Day Professor Ralph Harlow of Smith College suggested that a student be appointed on the Disarmament Commission which goes to Geneva, saying that if students are considered old enough to fight, they ought to be old enough to help make peace. He also showed how each individual should help the cause of world peace.
