SWIMMING SQUAD LOSES WARD AND ATHERTON, STAR MERMEN

Windsor and Devereaux to Replace Appendicitis Victims

Harvard's swimming prospects are considerably the worse for the loss of H. V. Atherton '32 and J. L. Ward '34 from the squad. Both these stellar swimmers have recently undergone operations for appendecitis and will probably not be able to swim on the Crimson team again this season.

Ward was instrumental in the defeat of the Bowdoin mermen just before the Christmas vacation, winning a first place in the 220-yard free-style race. Coach Ulen will probably fill his place on the team with G. D. Windsor '34.

The loss of Atherton, a letterman will leave an opening for the promising work of E. C. Devereux '34.
