Fall track will get under way this afternoon in Dillon Field House at 3 o'clock when coaches E. L. Farrell, E. C. Haggerty '27, and Jaakko Mikkola address candidates in a preliminary meeting. Coach Haggerty is to have charge of the squad, and Mikkola will coach cross country and the field events.
As usual, fall practice will be conducted informally and there will be no outside meets in connection with the workouts. Regular practice is to be held daily from two o'clock on. The University Fall Handicap meet and separate meets for University and Freshman squads will probably be held late in October.
The initial cross country meeting yesterday afternoon called forth 27 aspirants from the class of 1936. More candidates are expected to report within the next few days. The harriers will not have strenuous workouts until Thursday, when all physical examinations will have been completed. The date of the opening meet against Holy Cross has been advanced to October 8, Mikkola states.
Some of last year's veterans who are expected to report for the track and cross country squads are: E. B. Cole '32, N. P. Dodge '33, J. H. Pearson '32, J. B. Hawes '33, H. F. Kollmeyer '33, J. C. Grady '33, Oscar Sutermeister '32, and Newell Bent '33
